40 Days of Prayer – Day 30: Gathered for Mission

As Bearers Of God’s Good News

Jesus said in Mark 16:15: “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.” With that commission we believe God called everyone to missions in some capacity. We all have Good News to share!

Some have been called to go, others have been called to support financially, many are prayer warriors, and still others help with responsibilities “at home” — in our meetings, yearly meetings, Friends United Meeting, within local communities, and, literally, at home—in practical and important ways. There is a place for everyone in missions, and we must all partner together in order to accomplish God’s will in the world. God works in amazing ways and through really amazing people—and you are one of them!

It is difficult to serve in a country where there aren’t many Quakers to lean on and share in our immediate moments of joy and concern. And yet, in so many ways, Friends are here with us in Belize. Scripture says, “For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them” (Matthew 18:20). We have experienced and believe that even though we may not be together in the same place, we are “gathered together” for the same purpose. The Spirit can span the distance, and that indeed is a great blessing. So let’s go out — responding in the unique way God is calling each one of us—and share the Good News together!

Prayer Focus

Lord, thank you for your commission to share the Good News to the ends of the earth. Use me to further the Gospel message and purify my heart so that I may be a Living Witness to your redeeming love and grace.
