40 Days of Prayer for the Future of Friends
A Great People to be Gathered — in Christ, in Community, for Mission
Can you imagine thousands of Quakers all around the world joined in prayer, reflection, discussion and action for 40 consecutive days? What could God possibly do in and through us in that time? What expression of renewal could be realized? Let’s find out together!
10 October-18 November 2012, Friends around the world are gathering in small groups, classes, and congregations to listen together how the Holy Spirit is speaking to us today. 40 Days of Prayer is meant to be experienced in community, both in small groups and as part of the worldwide Religious Society of Friends.
The 40 Days of Prayer devotional booklet includes daily meditations, queries for reflection, action steps to consider, and a suggested focus for prayer. To aid this worldwide process of discernment, 40 Days of Prayer is hosting an online component, helping to sustain our worldwide community in prayerful reflection.
The devotional booklet is now available for online download. You can also order hard copies. Purchasing the booklet for $5.00 will provide a free copy to another Friend around the world who might not otherwise be able to afford one. Orders of 10 or more cost only $2.50 each. Beginning in October, digital copies will be available for free download. As you prepare for the 40 Days of Prayer, consider the Friends United Press book Come Pray as a resource.
Spread the word! And check out Quaker Life‘s September/October issue on Prayer, which includes discussion about 40 Days of Prayer.
