Field Officer—Africa Ministries Office

Friends United Meeting (FUM) is reopening the search for qualified applicants from North America to serve as Field Officer in the Africa Ministries Office. This full-time, Kisumu, Kenya-based staff person will receive a competitive salary, including benefits.

A successful applicant for this position will possess:

  • o Passionate understanding for and practical experience in holistic mission work
  • o Cultural competence and humility, with previous cross-cultural experience preferred
  • o Willingness and ability to relocate to Kisumu Kenya and to travel extensively throughout East Africa
  • o Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues from a variety of cultural backgrounds
  • o Strong ability to communicate in a compelling way what God is doing in and through African Friends using a variety of media, including writing, social media, photography and video
  • o Experience in project management, including finance and budgeting
  • o Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • o Excellent oral and written communication ability
  • o Capacity to listen to and work well with others
  • o Growing Christian Quaker faith and strong grounding in a Friends community
  • o Fundraising ability, including raising project funds as well as raising own salary, benefits and expenses

Friends United Meeting is a Christian association of over 30 Yearly Meetings and smaller Quaker groups that consult and work together for shared purposes.
