February has been a month of preparation. Our students have been preparing for the Primary School Examination by studying past examinations. Utilizing questions previously used helps students understand how the questions are written and helps them to be more comfortable in answering them.
We have also been preparing for the visitation of two work teams who will arrive this month. The first team is from Wilmington Yearly Meeting is led by Mike and Nancy McCormick. This team will spend the week renovating the bathrooms with supplies provided by Western Yearly Meeting. They also will be painting national symbols in the classroom and tearing out an island in the middle of the upstairs classroom. On top of all of that, they will also be conducting a four day club after school Monday through Thursday.
The second team will arrive toward the end of March. They are from Bethel Meeting in Indiana Yearly Meeting and is led by Suzanne Smith. Their work will consist of cleaning and painting the upper level of the school, as well as painting some of the office and fence. Like the Wilmington work team, the second team will be conducting a four-day after school club.
It is such a blessing to be a part of the collaborative spirit that resides in our yearly meetings. As Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 3:6, “I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow.” (NLT) The same is true of the work that is completed in Belize: some planted, others watered and Christ makes it grow.
Paul additionally reminds us in Romans 12:4, “For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function.”(NIV) In the ministry of Belize Friends School, some of you pray, others visit and lend a hand. Still others give and other are gifted to advise us. We thank God for all of you and for the many gifts we have received from you. This ministry would not thrive without your help.
Thank you for all you do in His name,
