Cuba Work Team 2014

Cuba Yearly MeetingThis January 20th-February 1st, join Friends United Meeting, on an enriching encounter in Cuba. This experience might just increase your faith, encourage more frugal approach to life, and set you on fire to share with others.

As a participant you can expect to work on the  construction of the three-story building in Holguin to house the seminary, retired pastors and yearly meeting offices. No particular construction skills are required, but a good sense of humor and a willingness to learn from and fellowship with our Cuban Friends is critical.

In addition, the work team also has a vigorous  travel and worship meeting schedule, visiting nearby meetings and missions in Las Tunas and Holguin Provinces.

Translation will be provided. Dates are tentative and include travel days to Miami for departure.

Cost for the trip is $1975.

Read what past team members have said about their experience:

Cuba Yearly Meeting

“I have been part of three different FUM work  teams. Each has been distinctly different and each has been exciting and rewarding. The work team to Cuba did more than any other to make me aware of a different culture and the way that Friends live out their witness in that culture. I loved it!”
— Dale G., Western Yearly Meeting

“It is impossible to describe how a mission  trip changes you. You have to experience it for  yourself. On my first trip to Cuba I learned that  hammers and nails and lumber are tools to build  buildings; mission trips are the tools to build relationships. I have been back two more time since and can’t wait to go again!”
— Patti P., Iowa Yearly Meeting

“To have worshipped and shared bountiful fellowship with Cuban Quakers has been one of the most  profound and moving experiences of my life.”
— Patricia W., New England Yearly Meeting
