FUM Ministry Of the Month – February, 2013

Ramallah Friends School

Ramallah Friends Upper SchoolUpper School Campus — “You can take away our land and our freedom, but you cannot take away our education” is a motto threading itself throughout the history of the Friends Boys School (Upper School) which began in rented spaces in Ramallah, Palestine, in 1901.

Over a century later the educational ministry despite many wars and atrocities has evolved with the original Quaker values of community, simplicity and equality. Today among the trees and the bird sanctuaries lays a lovely campus where over 560 students (girls and boys) from grade 7 through 12 enjoy an atmosphere of safety and peace as they learn.

This century-old educational ministry stands as a reminder of the collective role FUM has offered through service — bringing hope, peace and justice to those who desperately need it.trees and the bird sanctuaries lays a lovely campus where over 560 students (girls and boys) from grade 7 through 12 enjoy an atmosphere of safety and peace as they learn.

Please support the Ramallah Friends Upper School with your daily prayers:

1) Pray that teachers, parents, administration and the Board of Trustees are able to find harmony as decisions regarding salaries and tuition fees are settled.

2) Pray for the campus master-planning efforts and new building design to culminate
in a green, well programmed campus that will serve as a model for other schools in Palestine.

4) Pray that the local and FUM teams will conclude all work necessary to complete the Commercialization project.
