Friends United Meeting (FUM) is seeking qualified applicants for our Shipping and Maintenance
Supervisor position. This part-time (16 hours per week), Richmond (IN) based staff person will

Job Description

Job Title: Shipping and Maintenance Supervisor

Department: Support Services

Employment Status: Part-time—16 hours per week

Qualifications: Strong organizational ability and time management skills. Able to work
independently and exercise good judgment and keep safety standards in carrying out
tasks. Position includes physical labor, so the person will need to be in good health
and able to lift 50 pounds. Must have a valid driver’s license. Ability to work in a
team environment and evidence of a growing, Christian faith is required.

Reports to: General Secretary

Job Summary:

Oversee the shipping and receiving of all FUM materials. Provide maintenance and
upkeep on the FUM office building, grounds and equipment.

Basic Responsibilities:

  • Carry out all primary mailing functions of FUM—distribute mail to various offices, assist with
    bulk mailings and prepare mailing forms, add postage, post and deposit all mail. Track postage
    expenses by department.
  • Maintain postage meter.
  • Package mailed materials for Friends United Press, Quaker Life and other FUM materials to be
    shipped (UPS, USPS, Federal Express, etc).
  • Check and receive all inbound materials and distribute to proper location. Verify count and
    condition and submit packing list to Administrative Assistant for entry into inventory. Assist
    with annual inventory process. Advise Administrative Assistant when reorder of shelved books
    is required.
  • Oversee maintenance of FUM office building and grounds, making necessary maintenance
    material purchases and contract for necessary services in consultation with the General
    Secretary. Obtain bids for larger purchases and contracts.
  • Carry out specific maintenance duties—ordering/replacing light bulbs and fluorescent ballasts;
    maintaining towel/soap dispensers; empty trash; vacuum/sweep/dust; minor electrical/
    plumbing; snow removal from walks; parking lot striping; care of grounds; minor hedge and
    tree trimming; change filters and lubricate motors in AC/heat units.
  • Maintain maintenance and service records on FUM vehicle.
  • When able, assist in answering phones.
  • Other duties as assigned, including assisting with transportation to airport for FUM guests
  • Participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings and events.
