2012 Project: Cash for Classrooms

When Samburu Friends Mission first came to Loltulelei in 1995, the missionaries were given use of a four-room school that had been built of mud and wattle in the mid-1980s. Such a building is not meant to last more than a few years, yet Friends are still using it today. Our goal is to replace at least two of these rooms with more durable, safe, and hygienic cement block classrooms. In addition to providing much needed learning space for the 1,900 students at Loltulelei, the new classrooms will also be equipped with solar lighting to allow shepherd children to attend night school.

Goal: $20,000

Pennies for Postage: Thanks to the creative ways you collected “Pennies for Postage” for the 2008 Summer Mission Project, we received $7,288.69. We were able to ship 1,871 pounds of books to Africa, Belize, Jamaica, Ramallah, Mexico and Cuba. Thank you for your pennies! They went a long way.

Bikes for Boys: Thanks to your eagerness to collect money for the 2009 Summer Mission Project, we received $17,173.90! We were able to not only purchase bikes for students at Friends Boys School in Belize, but with the approval of a few meetings, we were also able to purchase computers for the schoool! Thank you so much for your faithful and joyful giving!

Water for Life: Wonderful stories and donations "poured in" to support bringing clean water to villages in Kenya. Thanks to your generous and faithful giving, $26,288.50 was raised for this project in 2010!!! Water has been reached in Turkana!...more

Kids for Kids: Friends were so excited to support Friends Theological College's dairy goat project — donations started to come in early and kept coming, into early 2012! This project is one of several projects that will enable FTC students to provide at least 50 percent of FTC's income so that the college can continue in its accreditation process — all who gave to Kids for Kids really made a difference in FTC's goal to meet its financial commitments! Thank you for donating $22,371 to FUM's 2011 Summer Mission Project!!!
